New York progressive metal force ENSTRIFE return with their most ambitious offering yet: two new EPs, Bound for the Abyss and Dance Against Damnation, slated for release in summer and fall of 2025. Following their explosive debut, Messiah Marionette, these releases push the boundaries of heavy music, fusing unrelenting aggression with intricate melodies and cinematic depth.

A true powerhouse, ENSTRIFE stands as a formidable five-piece led by the commanding presence of frontwoman Layla Yvonne. Her soaring, soul-searing vocals, paired with haunting saxophone lines, create a striking contrast against the relentless storm of sound. Guitarists Ali Cone II and Jeff Hinz lead the charge with a twin-axe assault, blending razor-sharp technicality with raw, unfiltered power. The unyielding rhythm section—Peter Getzoni (bass) and William Manser (drums)—delivers thunderous grooves and blistering intensity, driving each composition forward with unstoppable momentum.

Jeff Hinz, a veteran of the NYC music scene for over 20 years, has made his mark in bands such as Anaka, Sinaro, and The Unbroken. He has played with several well-known and Grammy Award-winning bands and artists across North America and Europe, bringing years of experience and unrelenting energy to ENSTRIFE’s sonic onslaught. Ali Cone II, previously of Thorns of Baccara, injects a unique blend of melodic finesse and crushing heaviness into the band’s guitar work. Peter Getzoni honed his craft in An Ocean Apart, a band that also featured former ENSTRIFE drummer Kevin York, who was a crucial part of the lineup until his departure in 2021 due to health reasons. Together, this collective of seasoned musicians forms an unstoppable force.

Bound for the Abyss and Dance Against Damnation are both a continuation of the themes explored in Messiah Marionette, delving deeper into the concept of choice and consequence. These EPs follow two distinct pathways, each representing a unique direction based on the choices made. Bound for the Abyss explores the darker, more destructive side of decision-making, while Dance Against Damnation offers a glimpse into the more rebellious, defiant path. Together, these releases expand on the narrative of personal autonomy and the impact of one’s choices.

Messiah Marionette was recorded at Crypt Studios in Ridgewood, NYC, and was self-engineered by the members of ENSTRIFE, alongside IAR recording engineer and producer, Louis Padilla—bassist of No Grudges and solo R&B artist and writer of TENOBEATZ. The collaborative effort gave the album its raw, visceral energy, making it a truly personal and unfiltered statement from the band.

The upcoming EPs, Bound for the Abyss and Dance Against Damnation, are also being tracked at Crypt Studios in Ridgewood, NY, with Louis Padilla once again at the helm. The recordings will be mixed by legendary engineer Randy Burns, known for his work with Megadeth, Testament, Death, and Overkill, adding another layer of refinement to ENSTRIFE’s unrelenting sound.

Jeff Hinz reflects on the band's journey: "Messiah Marionette took a lot out of us in the writing and recording process, especially considering how long it took during COVID. During that time, as we were recording, we were already writing the material that would appear on these two EPs and future records. We learned that we write tracks quickly and easily, and we've found the importance of getting those tracks on track and into the hands of our fans just as fast."

Renowned for their electrifying live performances, ENSTRIFE have torn through venues across the Northeast, leaving devastation in their wake. Sharing the stage with some of modern metal’s heaviest hitters, they’ve built a reputation for delivering an experience that is as ferocious as it is immersive. Messiah Marionette made their mark on the progressive metal landscape, earning acclaim for its seamless blend of brutality and intricacy. Now, with two new releases on the horizon, ENSTRIFE stand on the precipice of something even greater.

These upcoming EPs usher in a new era—an expansion of their sonic identity while staying true to their core. From pummeling breakdowns to atmospheric interludes and jaw-dropping solos, ENSTRIFE remain relentless in their pursuit to redefine modern progressive metal. Armed with an unshakable vision and an uncompromising sound, they are ready to carve their legacy into the genre. The future is theirs to claim, and they will take it by storm.
